Customs Entry Writer/Auditor

St. George, UT Full-time Posted 2026-08-20

Overview

Zonos Holdings is the AI operating system for cross-border trade, powering everything from checkout to customs clearance for more than 50,000 ecommerce merchants and 70+ postal operators across 200+ countries. We help businesses grow globally by removing the complexity of international commerce—calculating, collecting, and guaranteeing duties, taxes, and fees at checkout so shoppers see the true total cost upfront, eliminating surprise charges at delivery and the burden of managing country-specific tax requirements. Beyond ecommerce, Zonos supports carriers, postal operators, marketplaces, and customs agencies with AI-driven tools that infer and validate key customs data, including HS codes, country of origin, and customs value, alongside licensed customs brokerage services that ensure goods move compliantly and efficiently across borders.

This position is employed by Evolve Trade Services LLC, a licensed customs brokerage entity and wholly owned subsidiary of Zonos Holdings LLC.

About the Role

We're looking for a Customs Entry Writer to join our growing customs brokerage team. You'll help prepare, review, file, monitor, and audit customs entries while working directly with customers to resolve issues that could prevent their shipments from clearing. You'll also work with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) to manage holds, documentation requests, and other clearance issues. If you're someone who takes ownership, communicates well, catches the details others miss, and enjoys solving problems under pressure, you'll thrive in this role.

This role moves quickly. Customs clearance is time-sensitive, and when an entry or shipment has an issue, it needs immediate attention. Because customs clearance doesn’t follow traditional business hours, this position requires non-standard hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reliability during your assigned hours is critical.

You don't need years of brokerage experience to succeed here. We'll train the right person. What we can't train is attention to detail, good judgment, and the drive to learn a complex field. If you're accurate, curious, and want to build a career in customs and international trade, this is a rare opportunity to learn the industry from the inside at a company defining its future.

What You'll Work On

  • Prepare, review, and file customs entries, including Type 01, Type 11, and Type 13 entries.
  • Work with additional customs filings and processes, including ACAS and AMS.
  • Review client manifest and shipment data for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review, assign, or correct HTS classifications under the guidance of our Licensed Customs Broker.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping documents, and other supporting documentation.
  • Monitor entries through the clearance process and quickly identify and resolve errors, discrepancies, or exceptions.
  • Work directly with customers when shipment or entry data is missing, incomplete, or incorrect, helping them resolve issues so their shipments can continue moving.
  • Communicate with customers throughout the clearance process and provide timely updates when issues arise.
  • Monitor and manage CBP and PGA holds, documentation requests, and other post-entry tasks in coordination with customers.
  • Complete post-entry audits and identify data, documentation, or compliance issues that require correction or follow-up.
  • Review exceptions where automation needs human judgment, escalating to our Licensed Customs Broker when needed.
  • Learn and apply CBP and PGA requirements as they relate to customs clearance.
  • Track recurring issues and communicate trends or problems to the broader team.
  • Help improve our processes and technology by identifying opportunities to make customs clearance more accurate and efficient.

What We're Looking For

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize time-sensitive work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work directly with customers through complex or frustrating situations
  • Ability to learn technical, detailed, and highly regulated processes
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Comfort working with large amounts of data and identifying discrepancies
  • Comfort learning new software and working in technology-driven workflows
  • Ability to balance speed with accuracy
  • Good judgment and willingness to ask questions or escalate when something doesn't look right
  • Dependability and ability to consistently work an assigned non-traditional schedule
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure when shipment or clearance issues require immediate attention
  • Ability to work on-site in St. George, Utah

What we offer

  • $50,000 - $70,000 - Actual salaries will vary based on various factors such as education, experience, training, scope, etc. The salary noted is just one component of our total compensation package.
